The Azure Mountain Friends formed in 2001 when plans were in place to remove the fire tower. We are a 501(c)(3) not for profit and our mission is to care for the fire tower and trail and share our passion for this little mountain with the public. We operate under a Stewardship agreement with the Department of Environmental Conservation.
Please contact us if interested in becoming involved.
Our Volunteer and Scholarship Summit Steward Programs were suspended in 2020 due to Covid-19. It remains to be seen how 2021 will proceed.
Normally, adult volunteers sign up to be on duty on the summit from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. They enjoy sharing information about the human and natural history of the mountain.
We also offer competitive scholarships to high school seniors/college students who spend 5 days as a Summit Steward.
There are usually 1 -2 trail work days scheduled each year as well.
Check back for more information or CONTACT US.
The Azure Mountain Friends are always looking for new volunteers and people interested in being on the Board of Directors. Please fill out the form below and let us know how you'd like to be involved.
